See why millions of users choose Plex to organize, beautify, stream, and share their personal collection of movies, TV, music, and more. Organize all your video into beautiful libraries and we’ll add the finishing touches with posters, ratings, cast lists, season and episode details, and more! Have a bunch of related movies, shows and music? Make a Smart Collection to bring them together in one place for you to enjoy and share.
The SOHO NAS implementation of Plex Media Server gets you up and running in record time with three easy steps:
1) Ingest your media files (Movies, TV Shows, Music, Videos, Photos and Audiobooks) through a simple drag and drop operation via your desktop operating system of choice (Windows, Linux or Mac OS).
2) Manually trigger a library refresh or wait for the scheduled task to update the content of your Plex libraries at the configured interval.
3) Play the newly registered content, or create collections and play-list to enhance the organization of your prized digital gems.
Eighty7 Consulting delivers an already installed and configured Plex Media Server instance with distinct media libraries accessible through a network share (SMB and/or NFS). Additionally, we offer a physical media transcoding service to help you digitize your existing DVD, Blu-ray and 4K UHD disc collection.
Plex has client apps for all of your devices, giving you one seamless experience. Stream your media to any of these devices (the list below includes some popular client applications):
- Roku (streaming device app, Roku TV Channel app)
- Chromecast
- Amazon Fire TV (streaming device app)
- Google TV (streaming device app)
- Smart TVs (app versions available for specific manufacturers/brands e.g. LG, Samsung, VIZIO, etc.)
- Android (mobile phone app)
- iOS (mobile phone app)
- MS Windows (desktop app)
- Mac OS (desktop app)
- Xbox (gaming console app)
- PlayStation (gaming console app)
For the best experience, we recommend and would love to help you configure the Plex Media Server instance included in your SOHO NAS with all the capabilities provided only through the Plex Pass premium subscription.
Some of our favourite Plex Pass capabilities include:
- Downloads -- permits to download content to your mobile device and later consume it off-line while roaming away from your home network
- Advance Settings -- Enables extra sharing restrictions and allow access to select premium features for shared users.
- Over-the-air live TV Streaming with Digital Video Recording (DVR)
- Hardware Transcoding -- take advantage of the included NVIDIA Quadro series GPU in your SOHO NAS rig which can then provide NVEnc support for improved 4K UHD HDR media streaming.
Take control of you Audiobook collection! Enjoy your Audiobook titles with our recommended app on your mobile phone or tablet. Listen online, or off-line --very handy when traveling or any other disconnected scenarios.
Our recommended mobile applications offer a very similar user interface and user experience to that of Amazon's Audible mobile phone app. And like the Audible mobile phone app, our recommendations will work for users of Android or Apple devices.
We are very proud of our expertise at helping you establish an Audiobook library within you Plex Media Server.
As part of our services, we can also help bring over your existing content and even assist with file format conversions of your existing titles (for additional charges).
TrueNAS® SCALE™ (formerly known as FreeNAS®) is the latest member of the TrueNAS family and provides Open Source HyperConverged Infrastructure (HCI) including Linux containers and VMs. TrueNAS SCALE includes the ability to scale-out storage with capacities of up to hundreds of Petabytes. Just like TrueNAS CORE, TrueNAS SCALE is designed to be the most secure and efficient solution to managing and sharing data over a network, from smaller home networks "scaled" up to massive business environments.
TrueNAS SCALE is an Open Source operating system (OS). It is based on Debian Linux, and free to download and use. With hundreds of thousands of testers and contributors, the TrueNAS community development model enables broader testing, and ultimately, a higher quality product, in addition to its unbeaten value.
SCALE facilitates simple access to the well-established Linux container ecosystem and makes application deployment easy. With support for KVM virtual machines, Kubernetes, and Docker containers, it’s easy to customize and add applications to suit a wide variety of needs.
It uses a Web Interface to configure and manage local users, networking, services, disks, storage pools, datasets, shares, applications and virtual machines. However, it also provides command line shell access for utilities, diagnostics and scripts.
Foundational to all storage management is OpenZFS and therefore, the ZFS file system. Redundant storage pools creation with various levels of reliability and protection is this OS specialty.
Exposing the data contained in your storage pools over the configured networks can be made possible via SMB, NFS, AFP or block storage protocols like iSCSI.
SCALE uses the enterprise-grade OpenZFS file system for delivering self-healing bit rot mitigation, flexible snapshotting, and replication. The Storage Pool is the top-level storage element of OpenZFS. Storage pools are attached drives organized into virtual devices (vdevs). Drives are arranged inside vdevs to provide varying amounts of redundancy and performance. This allows for high performance pools, pools that maximize data lifetime, and all situations in between.
A ZFS dataset can be thought of as analogous to a typical file system, but we can define some additional ZFS properties on a per-dataset basis, such as cache behavior, storage quota, and the compression algorithm to use. Datasets can be nested, similar to folders in a traditional file system, and will inherit settings from their parent dataset. Datasets are created and assign atop a selected vdev/Storage Pool.
TrueNAS allows multiple computers to share file data via a network connection using multiple file protocols. Network shares are mapped to datasets.
With TrueNAS, the data is presented to other servers across the network, while the storage management task is performed by the TrueNAS storage array.
One of the major new features that TrueNAS SCALE introduced over CORE was the inclusion of easy-to-deploy applications through the TrueNAS Apps Catalog. These Apps can be run directly on your TrueNAS SCALE machine, with much less overhead than traditional virtual machines, and closer access to your storage.
TrueNAS SCALE provides simple access to the well-established Linux container ecosystem and makes application deployment easy. With support for Kubernetes, and Docker containers, it’s easy to customize and add applications to suit a wide variety of needs.
The Virtualization features permit the creation of Virtual Machines (VMs) to run alongside TrueNAS. Delegating processes to VMs reduces the load on the physical system, which means users can utilize additional hardware resources.
TrueNAS VMs use the KVM virtual machine software. This type of virtualization requires an x86 machine running a recent Linux kernel on an Intel processor with VT (virtualization technology) extensions or an AMD processor with SVM extensions (also called AMD-V). All NAS servers built and sold by Eighty7 Consulting meet or exceed all of TrueNAS requirements for hosting VMs.
Scale supports the creation of virtual machines running Windows, Linux an/or FreeBSD.
Powered by quad-core 3.3 GHz processor, and 32 GB ECC RAM, the SOHO NAS provides 10 drive bays storage space to securely store your important files and data, while allowing you to easily share files with family and friends. It is designed to be compact, reliant, resilient and extensible. You would be hard pressed to find a better value for a computing system that packs such a punch as our SOHO NAS units.
